I keep costs as low as possible and only recommend chargable software if I think it will help your particular circumstances. Most of the software I recommend is self reliant and will run happily in the background, with little or no user interaction. (Although the more experienced can also tweat software to their needs).
I do very little promotional work. Most of my clients are returning clients and new clients are generally through word of mouth. This is my first real attempt to promote my service to a wider audience.
I also offer a 24/7 telephone support service, using agents in different time zones (Including the UK and US) to keep costs down. All calls seamlessly routed through a single number.
Many of my customers eventually move to yearly service contracts, (with optional 7 day a week coverage). I extend this option here once the system is running normally. These contracts are reviewable on a yearly basis.
I pride myself on a personal service and have maintained a 100% satisfaction record from customers who have filled in feed back forms.

A final word on confidentiality. I have learned over the years that customers like to keep what is on their computer PRIVATE. I agree with that view. The client can share what information they want. I never will.
